The shape of the buttons of household electronic scales may vary widely, but the three most basic functions are as follows:

    1. ON/OFF: power switch, if the machine is turned on in an empty state, it will automatically shut down in about 100 seconds. Many electronic scales will use a circle and a vertical symbol to indicate the switch key.

     2. TARE or the single letter "T" means: reset and tare keys; press the reset and tare keys to return the scale to zero. For example, put a vessel on the scale, press this key to reset the scale to zero, then add liquid to the vessel, and the scale only displays the weight of the liquid.

    3. MODE, "UNIT" or "U": unit conversion key; each time the "MODE" key is pressed, "g" and "oz" are converted. Ounce (oz) is a unit commonly used in foreign countries, such as gold dollar quotations are usually in one ounce. g means grams, 1 kilogram = 1000 grams = 2 pounds.
